Homemade Chai Tea

I don’t measure anything so I’ll try and give some measurements so you’ll have an idea but feel free to adjust on your own.  I think it’s important to use organic ingredients, readily available in the spice jars at Whole Foods.

Several short cinnamon sticks (3-5) broken down by a mortar and pestle

About a tablespoon of whole cloves, crushed by the mortar and pestle

About a tablespoon of cardamom, crushed by the mortar and pestle

Whole black peppercorns—about ½ tablespoon full—also crushed

Occasionally, I’ll also add fresh nutmeg

Fresh ginger, peeled and chopped—I use about 5 or 7 large slices

3 large decaf tea bags (I just use the HEB brand)

5-7 cups of filtered water.

Don't forget to add the love--it makes all the difference

I put this together and then bring to a boil.  I then let it simmer for about 40 minutes.  I turn it off and then let it sit, covered, for an hour.  Since I don’t believe in microwaving anything, I just use a small pan to warm up what I need and I add a little honey and vanilla soy milk while it’s warming.  Enjoy and share with friends and loved ones.

Music

In the past I've played a variety of music in my classes but lately I find myself pulling out music from the same musician--Deuter.  I love the music and much of it is perfect for the kind of yoga I teach.  Here are the ones I play most often:

Wind and Mountain

Koyasan

East of the Full Moon

Hands of Light

Sea and Silence

Earth Blue

Also, I often use the "Seapeace" track from "Seapeace" by Georgia Kelly
